The General Plan Update is in motion! The Existing Conditions & State Law Report is now online - read all about Monte Sereno’s existing physical and social conditions, and relevant State law changes here!

In recent months, wildfires have affected many communities across California. In light of these events and community concerns, the Safety Element is taking priority within the General Plan Update process.

The Safety Element includes identification of the city’s fire, earthquake, and flood risks, as well as the city’s air quality, and emergency and disaster preparedness. This includes identification and analysis of emergency evacuation routes, in accordance with recent State law requirements.

The Public Review Draft Safety Element will be published by summer 2025 and is scheduled to adopted by the end of the year. The project schedule is available online.

The Policy Framework is also in the beginning stages. This framework outlines Monte Sereno’s vision and policy direction for the future. It proposes Goals, Policies, and Programs based on the 2008 General Plan and suggests actions for implementation in the General Plan Update.
